1% For The Planet

So I thought I would try this "blogging" thing. Seems harmless enough. I wanted to let people know where I was with this whole Love Your Earth TM process.
First of all, many thank yous need to go out. Of course I want to thank my beloved family who has experienced an absent wife/mother for the last few months. I promise you it's all worth it. Thank you to all the ladies (charter members) who came to the Pay It 4ward party. I was sincerely overwhelmed by your support. Thanks of course to Denise Cox who has been my mentor in all of this. Your PR advice has been priceless. If it wasn't for you the idea would still be stuck in my head! Thank you to Shelly Budde for all of her creative ideas and stern advice (especially when I really needed it). Thank you to Brian and Heather of http://www.myshadybaby.com/ for all of their business advice. You guys are awesome. I can't wait to see you succeed with your awesome kiddo umbrellas. I also want to say thank you to http://www.995themountain.com/ (specifically Steve Millin) for playing my requested Pink Floyd, The Who, and Eric Clapton when I was up at 3:30 in the morning putting the bags together. Thank you, thank you!
So where am I right now... Well I'm currently waiting for http://www.youthbiz.org/ to finish printing my 3rd order of bags. Everytime my volume increases. So thankful for that. I have experienced being "out of stock" twice now. No complaints of course. As of Nobember 28th, you have stopped 8,250 plastic bags from going into the landfills. That's awesome. How do I come up with that number??? Well I'll tell you...for every 1 bag sold, I multiply it by 50. I figure you'll use these bags 1x/week for the year at the grocery store. I must say I think the tote takes the place of at least 3 plastic wimpy bags. I might have to increase that number. You have helped to donate over $40 to saving the sea turtles. Currently I'm talking with http://www.onepercentfortheplanet.org/ to be a part of their wonderful non-profit.
Speaking of non-profit, ultimately that's where I'd like to end up. Right now the legal fees to make that happen just aren't there. So I'm an LLC. I have trademarked "Love Your Earth" and the turtle with North and South America pictured on it. Glad to have that under my belt. Working with the IRS always makes me nervous.
I'll be selling totes at Good Shepard this Saturday (12/1), I'll be working the http://lilaguide.com in January. I have numerous requests to visit grade schools and talk to the kids about the nasty facts of plastic bags. This has taken on a world of its own AND I'm so enjoying the journey. Thanks for reading.
Keep It Green!
